Well, you can't call us soft. We are hard core tourists. Eight trains, two trams, one taxi, and lots of walking. We visited Kutna Hora today which is a town about 75kms from Prague city. It has a spectacular cathedral overlooking the district below. Lots of those "buttresses" in the architecture Ian. The weather was a very sunny 25 degrees which made the beer taste extra good when we finally got home to our little local square. The precinct our hotel is in is really gorgeous. It is so close to everything yet quiet, quaint, and with a very "local" feeling about it. We are going to have dinner tonight in the local area too. Found a restaurant with an interesting Czech menu. The restaurant is in a house that was built in the 15th century. A painter bought it a century later. Apparently he was a bit of a "cranky pants" because he murdered one of his servants during a fight just outside on the street. Tomorrow is a rest day on the Carlyle Tour de Prague although we'll start with a "not too early" run to get us back into calorie deficit although I think that idea might take more than a 40 minute run.
PS: Back from the restaurant now. The interior was not large but possibly the most beautiful we have ever seen.
Eight trains? Blimey! Are you two experienced train spotters now? Did you just ride on a few extra trains more than you needed just for fun? Anyway, you seem having a jolly old time in the Czech Republic - how much drama is there in the language gap - or are the locals much happier to speak English than in Spain? If tomorrow is a rest day, are you still going to go out for an easy spin like the tour riders?
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely a bigger language gap and Czech words look NOTHING like English words so interpreting signs is hard.
